EFFECT OF WATER STRESS PERIOD TO THE YIELD GROWTH AND ANTHOCYANIN CONTENT OF BLACK PADDY AND RED PADDY AS FUNCTIONAL FOOD

Black paddy is the type rice being was anciently only consumed by the palace as of the religious ceremony, and the market price is expensive. Black rice contain high nutrients that can serve as antioxidan. Stress water influented growth, physiological and biochemical processes. This research was conducted at Screenhouse of Faculty of Agriculrute, UNS from January to June 2013. A completely randomized design was conducted in the two levels of black paddy and red paddy (cultivated from Bantul, Boyolali black paddy and Wonogiri brown paddy) and four levels of water stress period (38-63, 58-83, 73-103 day after planting and without water stress respectively). Data was analysed with F test, DMRT test level at 5%. The result of the research showed that stress water influented the weight of whose seeds are produced. Stress water period 73-103 day after palnting increased total antocyanins content in black paddy cultivated from Boyolali, while different pattern occured in black paddy cultivated from Bantul and cultivated Wonogiri.
