Abstrack :

The aim of this research is to study the effect of drought stress and weeds density to the physiology

of soybean plant. The research was pot experiment which arranged in a  Randomized Completely Block Design (RCBD). Treatment factors were drought stress and initial population density of weed. The drought stress treatment consisted of three levels, i.e.: field capacity, 60% field capacity and 40% field capacity water content. The density of weeds comprised 5 densities, i.e.: 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20 tubers per pot. Observed variables were leaf area, number of leaves, transpiration rate, photosynthesis rate, stomata widht, number of chlorophylls, dry weight of above ground plant. Data were analyzed by F test, followed by Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) at error level of 5 %. The result showed that water stress at 60% of field capacity decrease the stomata width till 33.14%, 10.45% transpiration rate, 7.73% chlorophylls contens. The initial population density of weeds decreased the stomata width till 17.14%. The interaction effect of drought stress and weeds density have been decreased the leaf area until 35.70% and 20.41 % of photosynthesis rates.

Abstrack :

Anthurium hookeri is one of leaves anthurium having high economical and aesthetic value, however their growth is slowly. For accelerate their growth can be done by giving accurate nutrient and appro-priate concentration. Iron (Fe) is one of essential nutrient for plant having important role in chlorophyll development, plant respiration, and plant metabolism and plays role in energy transfer. Addition iron is determined able to increase the quality of plant.  The aim of this research is to study the effect of applying iron on growth of A. hookeri and to find out the appropriate iron concentration for growth of A. hookeri. The research was arranged based on Split Plot Design with 2 factors and 3 replicates. The main factor was the kind of  A. hookeri (green and red) and the sub plot was Fe concentration with 4 levels e.i ( 0; 2; 4 and 6 ppm). The data observation were analyzed by variance analysis and continued by Duncan Multiple Range Test in level 95 %. The research showed that applying Fe increased the height plant, length stalk, number of leaves and leaves area. Applying 4 ppm Fe in both red and green A. hookeri gave the highest growth and quality.

Abstrack :

The experiment was carried out at the Laboratory of Agricultural Biotecnology, Gadjah Mada Uni-versity in Yogyakarta and the Research Center of Perum Perhutani Cepu. Object of the experi-ment was to study on the genetic relationship between the isolates of Rhizoctonia Mycorrhizal from vanilla root based on PCR-RFLP analysis. It was arranged in PCR with pimer of ITS 1 and ITS 4, and RFLP with restriction enzyme of  Hinf I, Hae III, Msp I, and Bsrd I. The results suggested that based on the PCR-RFLP analysis, isolate of SR-8 had no relationship to isolate of SR-9 and TMG-2 whereas between the latest isolates were close related.

Abstrack :

Blood Disease Bacterium (BDB) is devastating pathogen on banana in Indonesia.  In the fields, the disease incidence can reach over 80%.  Many aspects of the disease are still poorly understood, including the diversity of the pathogen and endophytic bacteria in association with infected banana. So far the pathogen is difficult to isolate from all parts of banana aside from the bunch due to heavy contaminated by complex endophytic bacteria.  A research had been employed through culturable independent approach using analysis of polymerase chain reaction-single strand conformation polymorphism (PCR-SSCP), to study the diversity of BDB and endophytic bacterium from some varieties of banana infected by the pathogen.  The result showed that BDB from some banana varieties was not diverse and so was the endophyitic bacterium.

Abstrack :

In the latest years, the banana farmers in most provinces of Indonesia faces a serious problem caused by wilt pathogen. Wilt of banana was caused by Blood Disease Bacterium (BDB) and Fusarium oxysporum f.sp. cubense. In Sambungmacan Sragen and Tawangmangu Karanganyar is a couple area of endemic disease of wilt banana. This paper reports the survey result of disease incidences of blood bacterial wilt and fusarium wilt of banana in the two areas. The survey results showed that wilt banana in Sambungmacan Sragen and Tawangmangu Karanganyar caused by blood bacterial wilt and F. oxysporum f.sp. cubense with the disease incidence 40.30-80.70 % and 0.00-7.60 % respectively. In Sambungmacan Sragen, the disease incidence was dominated by blood bacterial wilt especially on cv. Kepok Kuning and Raja Bandung with disease incidences 86.78 % and 78.46 % respectively. In Tawangmangu Karanganyar, the disease incidence was more dominated by Fusarium wilt with the most high on cv. Ambon group followed by Byok, Kapok group, and Raja Bandung with disease incidences 14.17%, 2.67%, 2.10%, and 1.60% respectively.
