ABSTRACT

Rice is the main commodity of Indonesian population. Demand for rice continues to increase every year along with the increase in population. To keep the food supply, should be intensified cultivation of rice varieties. One of the varieties is Ciherang rice. This study aims to determine the performance of Ciherang rice resistant dry derived in second generation (M2) results of gamma radiation on drought stress. This research was conducted in the Greenhouse Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sebelas Maret Surakarta. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance and if there is a significant difference continued with DMRT (Duncan Multiple Range Test) level of 5%. The results showed that there are five (5) individuals mutant derived from a different treatment, two (2) plants of treatment sprinkling every day and a radiation dose of 100 gray, two (2) plants of the treatment plant sprinkling every day and a radiation dose of 300 gray, and one (1) plant of the treatment sprinkling every 2 days and without radiation. ABSTRACT

Fusariumbasal rot of garlic is important constrain for farmers in Tawangmangu, Karanganyar, Central Java. Bacillus is known as antagonists pathogens and can increase plant productivity. The study aims to determine the ability of Bacillus as growth promoter agents and to inhibit Fusarium infection on garlic seed germination. A mount of 20 isolates of Bacillus from garlic were used as treatment in the suspension test of Bacillus, indole acetic acid production test (IAA) and the culture filtrate test of Bacillus on garlic seed. Results showed that all of the isolates were able to produce IAA. Cel suspensionor culture filtrate of Bacillus could inhibit Fusarium infection, Bacillus filtrate were not been able to promote the growth on the seed germination of garlic compared to these Bacillus suspension. Bacillus isolates B17 and B16 in the test suspension were more potential in inhibiting Fusarium infection and stimulate seed germination of garlic, while in the filtrate test, isolate B10 was more potential in inhibiting Fusarium infection on the seed germination of garlic. ABSTRACT

Duku is a plant that spread with extensive and have a high commercial value. Subdistrict Matesih, Karanganyar regency is one of duku center in Indonesia. Duku diversity in the Matesih region is not certain so it is important to know the variation among accessions. This study aimed to identify morphological characteristics and duku diversity based on morphology. The research used is descriptive and survey method. Variable observations were on plant morphology, vegetative and generative organs. The results showed that there was diversity in duku Matesih accession, Karanganyar. Dendogram analysis based on the characters of plants and vegetative organs showed similarity coeffisien 0.81 or 81% there were 5 groups, the analysis dendogram based fruit and seed showed similarity coeffisient variation  0.75 or 75% there were 5 groups.

ABSTRACT

Tomato fruitis the vegetable that contain a lot of benefits for health so that the cultivation of tomatoes sufficiently developed in Indonesia. But the threat of drought to be problem in tomato cultivation. One of the efforts to overcome drought problem is the addition of mycorrhizal. The purpose of the study to determine the effect of mycorrhiza on the growth of several varieties of tomatoes, effective types of mycorrhizae in the growth of tomato in drought conditions and varieties of tomatoes are effective symbiosis with some types of mycorrhizae. This research used CRD or Completely Randomized Designwith two treatment factors, types of mycorrhizal (without mycorrhizal, Glomus sp., Acaulospora sp.) and varieties of tomato (Lentana, Tyrana, Betavilla, Berlian and Opal). The results showed that the addition of the type of mycorrhizal increase levels of green leaf after watering. Application of Acaulospora sp. increases leaf area, whereas inoculation with Glomus sp. accelerates time flowers appear first. Five varieties capable of symbiosis with mycorrhizal given.

ABSTRACT

Emprit ginger (Zingiber officinale var. Amarum) is the smallest type of ginger that has many benefits as medical plant. Ginger production has not been able to meet export demand due to intensive cultivation has not done even hampered the presence of environmental stress. This study was conducted to obtain the level of shade and water stress corresponding to ginger to produce optimum growth and yield. This study used a nested design consisting of two factors, namely treatment shade and water stress. Results were analyzed by analysis of variance and if there is a real difference continued DMRT 5% level. The results showed that the level of shade treatment effects on growth and yield emprit ginger. 25% shade treatment showed the highest result on the length of the roots of plant, plant stover dry weight, fresh weight of plant rhizomes, and rhizome dry weight. Whereas water stress treatment had no effect on growth and yield of emprit ginger. Keywords: emprit ginger, shade, water stress.
